Hitlist in GangCity: Bounties, the Pot and Hired Kills

The hitlist is GangCity's bounty hunting board: a public list of players with a price on their head. Whoever manages to kill a target collects the full bounty. It's one of the most direct forms of competition in the game — and a constant threat you need to account for.

A bounty as a growing pot

The bounty on a target isn't a fixed amount from a single player, but a growing pot that anyone can contribute to. Have a grudge against someone, or want to take out a rival? Put money in the pot. Others can add on top, driving the bounty up and making the target increasingly attractive to hitmen. The killer who gets the job done receives the entire pot.

Buying off your own bounty

Are you on the hitlist yourself? Then you can buy off your bounty. The buyout price is tied at minimum to your rank: you pay twice the rank minimum. If the pot exceeds that, the buyout price rises 1-to-1 with it: you can't buy off a fat bounty for pennies. The bought-off amount disappears from the game.

Two kinds of listings

  • Bounty hunt — targets that players have voluntarily put a bounty on.
  • Wanted for murder — players who have killed someone themselves are automatically added to the list with a countdown during which revenge is possible.

What do you need to kill?

Committing a murder isn't a matter of pressing a single button. You need the right weapon, enough bullets, protection against counterattacks, and murder experience. You build that experience through training. Bullets are scarce and valuable — they often come from your family's shared vault. A well-prepared killer is deadly; an unprepared one is putting themselves in danger.

Going on the hunt

Want to collect a bounty? Then you first need to find your target and strike at the right moment. Detectives help you track down targets. Timing is everything: strike when your opponent is vulnerable, and make sure you're well protected against revenge yourself.
