Prestige in GangCity: Starting Over as a Living Legend

Prestige is the endgame of GangCity. Once you've reached the highest rank, Legendary Godfather, the ladder ends — except for one move: giving up everything and starting again right at the bottom, in exchange for something no one can ever take from you again. Prestige isn't an upgrade, it's a sacrifice. The power you've built up disappears, but your prestige level and honors stay attached to you.

When can you prestige?

Prestige is only open to players who've reached the top of the rank ladder: Legendary Godfather. As long as you don't have that rank, you can't prestige. So it's a long-term goal, not a casual choice. See ranks for the full ladder.

What do you give up?

Prestige resets you completely to the bottom rung, Empty Suit with zero experience. Specifically, you give up:

• Your rank and experience — you start again as Empty Suit with 0 XP.
• Your money — you keep only $2,500,000 in the bank, no pocket money and no bullets.
• Your possessions — vehicles, stocks, safebox contents, villas, defense and transport all disappear.
• Your property — any property you own goes back onto the street via Obay.

What you do keep: your family, your marriage, and any bounty on your head via the hitlist.

What do you get back?

In exchange for that clean slate, you get permanent status and benefits tied to you, not to your character. They even stay in place if you later get killed:

• Stars next to your name, visible on every leaderboard, every profile and every attack screen.
• Your own prestige leaderboard and an announcement in the newspaper every time you return.
• Benefits that lighten your grind, every single day — from extra mission slots to shorter wait times.

The more often you return, the more weight your name carries. Prestige doesn't make you invulnerable; that's exactly the point.

The First Legend

There's one honor that's only awarded once per season: the very first player to prestige becomes First Legend. That's a unique, permanent title in gold next to your name, which no one after can ever earn. Whoever dares to fall first writes GangCity history; once someone claims the title, it's spoken for that season.

The three prestige levels

You can prestige up to three times. Each level builds on the previous one and adds new benefits:

• Prestige I — The Return: bronze stars, your name in the newspaper, and a set of basic benefits you feel every day: a higher energy cap, a smaller chance of getting caught during robberies, free lottery tickets on every draw, an extra order at Eddie the Fence, cheaper and faster travel, an extra mission reroll, sharper heists, a shorter smuggling wait time and more room on the stock exchange.
• Prestige II — Notorious: silver stars with a light sheen sliding over them, a daily cash drop, an extra daily mission slot, less damage during vehicle theft, a free breakout from prison and more tickets in the casino. Everything that scales gets stronger: more energy, better escapes, more free tickets, bigger discounts.
• Prestige III — Living Legend: gold stars that shine and flicker, a second mission slot, free access to your statistics dashboard and even more tickets. Every scaling benefit reaches its strongest level here.

The first fourteen days

After a prestige, you're vulnerable again for fourteen days. During that period you can't receive money or valuable possessions from others: no transfers come in (not even from your family or your partner), you can't buy or sell on Obay, and you can't draw bullets from the family treasury. That's intentional: it temporarily makes the strongest players on the server attackable again, so no one stays untouchable at the top forever. Is prestige worth it?

Prestige is a choice for status, not for power. You trade a fully built-up character for permanent recognition and benefits that make your next climb just a little lighter. For those who've already achieved everything, it's the only way to find a new goal — and to climb to the top again with a name everyone knows.
