Ranks in GangCity: All 16 Ranks and How to Get Promoted

In GangCity you climb through 16 ranks, from a nameless newcomer to a living legend. Your rank determines how much respect you command, which crimes you can take on, and how seriously other players take you. You climb by earning rank progress (XP), and every action in the game counts toward it.

How do you gain rank?

Almost everything you do earns XP: committing crimes, extortion, stealing vehicles, breaking and entering, and taking part in joint heists. You earn rank progress on every attempt, even if the action fails. As soon as you reach the XP threshold for the next rank, you're promoted automatically. You can always see your current progress on your Status page.

The first ranks come easily, but the higher you climb, the more XP each subsequent rank requires. Reaching the top takes dedication — and not everyone makes it.

Below are all ranks in order, with the XP threshold needed to reach that rank. Some ranks have a female variant.

Why rank matters

A higher rank opens doors. You get access to heavier crimes with bigger rewards, and your position within a family gets stronger. Rank also matters in conflicts: for example, the minimum bounty amount on the hitlist is tied to the target's rank.

The very highest rank, Legendary Godfather, is reserved for the absolute top. Whoever reaches that status first writes GangCity history. And even there it doesn't stop: as Legendary Godfather you can prestige — give up everything and climb back to the top again with permanent stars.
