Killing another player is the most direct form of power in GangCity — and the most risky. A murder isn't a push of a button: you need the right equipment, experience and preparation. Handle it sloppily, and the attack can backfire, leaving you on the ground instead. Murder is closely tied to the hitlist and to your family.
What do you need?
- A detective on your target — you first need to track down your victim via the detective bureau, in the city where they're located.
- A weapon — every weapon gives an attack bonus; better weapons hit harder.
- Enough bullets — you need a minimum number of bullets, and the higher your target's rank, the more you need. Bullets come from the bullet factory or the family bullet vault.
Attack and defense
The outcome of an attack depends on a number of factors on both sides:
- Weapon — increases your attack power.
- Protection — a bulletproof vest, a shield and a property/villa in your city reduce the damage you take (up to a maximum).
- Bodyguards — absorb part of the damage from an attack on you, but can die.
- Murder experience — builds up with every kill; experienced killers deal more damage.
- Vigilance — are you set to Normal, Alert or Bunker? A higher setting makes you defensively stronger, but weakens your own attacks — Bunker is purely defensive.
- Approach — careful (less damage, less backfire), normal, or aggressive (more damage, more backfire).
Backfire: the risk for the attacker
An attack can backfire. If your target is well defended or you go in too aggressively, you can take heavy damage yourself. So an attack can go four ways: the target dies, you die, you both die, or you both survive. Prepare well before you strike.
The loot and the consequences
- Loot — on a successful kill you take your victim's pocket money, plus part of their bank money (up to a maximum, depending on any will they've set up). Pocket money in the bank is therefore safer.
- Hitlist — after a murder, you yourself end up on the hitlist for revenge, unless you cover your tracks with honor points (anonymous kills).
- Rules — you can only attack targets within a certain rank range. New players are protected for the first 48 hours after registration: they can't be killed during that period, and can't kill anyone either.
